5 Things to Do as a Christian Entrepreneur Before the End of the Year to Set Your Business Up for Success in 2024

Business

November 14, 2023

We all know that as Christian entrepreneurs, our approach to business is unique. In this episode, I’ll walk you through five transformative actions that will not only propel your business forward but also strengthen your partnership with God in your business.

Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or just starting out, these steps are designed to be actionable and adaptable to your unique journey.

If you are ready to set your business on a faith-filled path to success in 2024, then this episode is for YOU.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • 5 things to do as a Christian entrepreneur before the end of the year to set your business up for success in 2024
  • Why I no longer plan out my full year in advance (& what I do instead)
  • How to align your actions with what God is calling you to do in 2024
  • How to put a plan in place with the Lord

 Let’s do this.

Step 1: Pray and Seek What God is Telling You About Your Business

Take time to be with Him.

Ask Him to reveal anything He wants to about your business. I personally like to freely journal about what He is bringing to my mind. I don’t necessarily have a prompt; I just ask God to please reveal to me what He wants me to know about my business.

Give yourself permission to get in the flow and also be messy if you need to.

Then take time to reflect on your business for the previous year. So, this year I will reflect with the Lord on what we did in business and how I operated as a business owner.

Was I fully embodying my role as a faith-fueled CEO?

Was I solely focused on bringing revenue into my business versus bringing impact to the kingdom?

Was I obsessing over business, getting distracted by shiny objects or overthinking every single move?

I like to get clear on these things, and let the Lord reveal all to me as I’m reflecting.

NOTE: This is slightly different from freely journaling, but I have found that freely journaling first brings things to my mind to reflect upon. So, while they’re different, they do kind of work together. Just remember to take the time to pray and seek God’s guidance in your decisions.

In these moments of quiet reflection, listen for His insights. Just as a ship needs a captain to navigate the sea, our business needs God as the guiding light, because He is the one that’s going to lead you in the right direction, and He will never steer you wrong.

Step 2: Allow God to Set the Intentions for 2024

It is essential to surrender our plans and ambitions to God first. When we do this, we can then allow Him to set the intentions for the coming year. By aligning our goals with His divine purpose, we can trust that the path ahead is for our good and His purpose.

By letting go of control, we can then seek His will for our lives and our businesses. This ultimately helps us discern what His intentions for us are in the coming year. That way, it’s not based on what we want, but on what God wants.

For example, my 2024 intentions are to speak, write, and cultivate community.

And what I do with those intentions will be discussed in step three.

Step 3: Align Your Business Model, Actions, and Investments with God’s Intentions for Your Business

Now that you know your intentions, it’s time to thoughtfully consider every area of your business to make sure they line up with the intentions the Lord has set for you in 2024.

For example, I am personally saying goodbye to certain parts of my business model so I can intentionally take aligned action on the things the Lord has for me in 2024.

If you listen to episode 96 of the show then you already know that I’m retiring my signature course, Faith-Fueled Coach Academy (50% off until November 24th with code BLACKFRIDAY50), and one-on-one coaching calls.

This was not a decision I took lightly by any means, but the Lord was definitely guiding my decision making process. In 2024, I need to steward the responsibility of speaking and writing and I needed to let certain things go so I could make room for what He was calling me to do.

However, He did want me to replace one-on-one coaching calls with a brand new one-on-one offer. I think it might be even better than a one-on-one coaching call, because whether you are seeking clarity, need a game plan to finally create a profitable business, need some wise counsel, or you’re just ready to experience a breakthrough, this offer is going to be for you.

Asynchronous Immersion Experience, or Async Immersion for short, essentially is one-on-one messaging access with me where we will intimately be working together in a messaging app, which will most likely be Slack, for your choice of one week or an entire month.

I will be here to help you put together your very own action plan for your business based on what the Holy Spirit reveals along the way.

I love working one-on-one with clients through messaging apps because it allows me to make sure you are fully equipped to live out the breakthroughs you experience as we work together. I’ll be in your back pocket Monday-Friday, 11-4 Eastern Standard Time (for Black Friday, the Async Immersion has a special launch rate until November 24th.)

As for Faith-Fuled Coach Academy, my signature course, it was just time to let it go. I’m no longer a coach for coaches – I support all Christian entrepreneurs.

When I launched the Daily Sales System workshop (20% off until November 24th with code BLACKFRIDAY20), I just knew it was about time we retire the course since the Daily Sales System originally came from FCA to begin with.

In addition to saying goodbye to certain things, there are pieces of my business I already have that the Lord wants me to steward.

This podcast is a big one. It’s a speaking platform for me but He’s also called me to write more, which could look like taking the time to write a devotional or a book. Then with cultivating community, that’s all about my membership, the Called to CEO Collective (half off your first month until Nov 24 with code COLLECTIVE50).

As you can see, it is so important to get clear on the intentions the Lord has called you to in this coming year so that you can get clear on your business model, actions, and investments, and then make sure they are in alignment with the intentions the Lord has called you to.

There is absolutely no way that I would have been able to make these really hard decisions and take this kind of action if I didn’t know the intentions that the Lord has me purposefully pursuing in 2024, so please take the time to do this because if you don’t, you may find that you are just throwing spaghetti at the wall and that is no way to cultivate a thriving Holy Spirit led business.

Step 4: Put a Tentative Plan of Action in Place With Room For The Lord to Change It If Necessary

It is very wise to put a tentative plan of action in place for your business once the Lord has revealed to you your intentions for the year. However, it is also very wise to leave room for the Lord to make divine adjustments as needed.

It’s important to embrace flexibility in your strategy and allow the Lord to guide your path because you have got to acknowledge that His wisdom surpasses our own.

Just be ready to adapt as God’s perfect plan unfolds because our plans will never be perfect.

Only His will is.

When you put this tentative plan in place, please do it with Him – this is key.

Go to Him in prayer and always make sure you align this back up with the intentions He laid out for you for the year. Additionally, it’s very important to check in and make sure that you have the capacity for this tentative plan you’re laying out because we don’t want to mistakenly fall prey to hustle culture and a striving mentality just by adding too many things to our plates.

TIP: When I’m creating a tentative plan for the year, I do not fully map out the entire year. I get a general idea of what I think the year is going to look like and then pay close attention to the next quarter, month, week, and day. Essentially, I focus on what’s the closest to me.

I used to try to plan out my entire year and determine when my launches were going to be, but it never turned out that way and I used to feel a lot of shame for that, but now it feels more expansive and abundant because I know the Lord is always up to something so good.

I have a very tentative plan for the year when it comes to big projects and intentions, but I don’t plan any details around them until it gets closer because I found that when you are working with the Lord, you have to allow things to shift if He’s telling you to shift them.

More often than not, you’re going to be shifting a whole lot when you’re working with the Lord so it really wastes a lot of time and decreases confidence when you’re planning so far in advance when things can just shift in an instant.

So just make sure you leave room.

Step 5: Join and Engage in a Faith-Fueled Business Community

If you are not already involved in a Christian entrepreneurial community, please join one.

It is truly invaluable to engage with like-minded entrepreneurs who share your beliefs, surround yourself with business owners who understand the power of the Holy Spirit, and have others go to as you’re navigating challenges in your business.

If you can join a Christian entrepreneurial community with an experienced business mentor, that’s even better, because you’ll be able to gain mentorship, support, coaching, and accountability on an entirely different level than what you might be used to.(If this is something you’re looking for, you can get half off your first month of my membership, the Called to CEO Collective with the code COLLECTIVE50 until November 24th.)
