Why You’re Not Attracting Clients to You Online (& How to Do It as a Multipassionate Entrepreneur)

Marketing

February 22, 2022

Want to know WHY you’re not attracting clients online & HOW to do it when you’re a multipassionate entrepreneur? If so, then this episode is going to be for you. What you’ll learn about in this episode is my 5 Step Foundation Framework that you can always refer back to if you are struggling to attract clients online. Because if you are not clear on these 5 things, you are going to have a very tough time attracting clients to you.

I would bet that if you’re NOT attracting clients to you online, there is a step or multiple steps in this Framework that you’re not completely clear on. And to be totally transparent, after being an entrepreneur for going on 5 years now, I am still constantly going back to my 5 Step Foundation Framework! Yes, it’s that good. I know this is going to be helpful for so many of you–especially if you are multipassionate because I’m going to be sharing some tips on how to get really clear while at the same time, give you the freedom to share your different passions.

I hope you’re just as excited about this episode as I am. This is one of my favorite topics. Go ahead and grab a notebook and pen because this is a juicy one!

Hello, hello beautiful friends. We are on episode 3 of Reclaimed to Reign. Holy moly, we are doing this thing. But that is beside the point. I am so glad you’re here.

This episode is all about why you’re not attracting clients online and how to do it when you’re a multipassionate entrepreneur. This is such a hot topic that I had to make it one of the first episodes.

What I’m going to be sharing with you today is my 5 step foundation framework that you can always refer back to if you are struggling to attract clients online. Because the thing is, if you are not clear on these 5 things, you are going to have a very tough time attracting clients to you. And I would bet that if you’re not attracting clients to you online, there is a step or multiple steps in this framework that you’re not completely clear on. And to be totally transparent, after being an entrepreneur for going on 5 years now, I am still constantly going back to my 5 step foundation framework. So I know this is going to be helpful for so many of you, especially if you are multipassionate, because I’m going to be sharing some tips on how to get really clear while also giving you the freedom to share your different passions.

I don’t know about you, but when I first got started in the online space with YouTube, blogging, then network marketing, then coaching, I knew that it was important to get really clear on your niche and your ideal client. But the idea of clarifying my niche and then sticking with it was overwhelming, and I was not really into it at all. I am a multi-passionate individual. Why must I only talk about ONE specific thing? Hello, I want to help ALL the people, so I can’t just shut people out by talking about one thing, right?

I know I am not the only one who has experienced this and has thought this, because over the last few years, I have chatted with so many of you who feel this way and have basically been on strike against niching down. So, listen. I get it. And to be honest, I can’t really blame you because it just seems… a little unreasonable. But it has proven to be extremely important time and time again. And I know that I know that I know there are people listening to this right now that are rolling their eyes because they’re so sick of hearing about it.

However, if you are a multi-passionate entrepreneur, and if you’re having trouble niching down, or you feel like you’ve gotten clear but are still struggling with gaining clients online, then keep listening. This episode was literally created for you because I’m going to be sharing with you why you need to get super clear, exactly how to get clear on your ideal client as a multi-passionate entrepreneur in a way that actually feels aligned and not like you’re putting chains on yourself, all so that you can ultimately go and build the Kingdom business the Lord has called you to.

Now, I know you’re probably thinking, “Ugh, not another niche conversation.” But listen. In order to successfully sell whatever it is you’re selling, it is crucial that you understand and are very clear on your ideal client’s pain points, fears, and desires. On top of that, you must be able to communicate that you understand your ideal client’s pains, fears, and desires and have the solution for them.

This is essentially what marketing is. If you cannot communicate the value of your offer well and in a way that your ideal client is going to relate to, you will find yourself having a very hard time selling. And it’s not because what you have isn’t valuable. It’s because you haven’t been communicating the value of what you have.

Let me repeat that one more time.

The reason you’re not selling is not because what you have isn’t valuable. It’s because you haven’t been communicating the value of what you have.

Communication of what you are selling is marketing.

So, then, the question becomes what differentiates successful marketing vs unsuccessful marketing?

I’m going to tell you right now it’s the efficiency and effectiveness of your communication.

You cannot be efficient or effective in your communication unless you are crystal clear on who your ideal client is, what they want, what they don’t want, what problem you are solving for them, and how your offer is the solution to their problem. If you do not know these, you will not be able to communicate well.

This is why I am a firm believer that if you are posting, you’re doing all the things, and you’re still not selling, it can often come back to a clarity problem. If you aren’t crystal clear, that’s going to affect the way you communicate.

So let’s go ahead and walk through my five step foundation framework to help you niche down on your ideal client and gain even more clarity on who it is you are serving. Go ahead and grab your pen and paper because this is a juicy one.

5 Step Foundation Framework

1. Understand the Whose

This is something I personally believe that most people leave out in terms of clarifying their ideal client or their dream queen (my clients and I refer to our ideal clients as dream queens–it’s very on brand and I love it). But what I was saying is that a lot of people do not consider the whose before they get clear on the who.

The whose is essentially your identity. Inside of my signature process I harp on and on about the Queen Identity. And the Queen Identity is essentially you. There are so many reasons why Queen and royalty are the foundation of this brand. Ultimately, it’s because we are daughters of the King. We were created to reign with Jesus. We are co-heirs with Christ as Romans 8:17 says.

So, really, this is all about understanding whose you are. Why is this important for determining your niche and gaining clarity on your dream queen?

I’m going to tell you right now that a lot of the time there will be some sort of mental block going on that is hindering you from gaining clarity. That block, or those blinders, will often be removed when we are fully satisfied and surrendered to Him. We get so caught up in our thoughts and in our logical, strategic minds that we forget that the Lord gives us clarity. The Lord gives us vision. The Lord ignites creativity because He is the ultimate Creator. And I find all the time, and have experienced this myself time and time again, that when we are so in our heads, we are blocking the Lord from working through us. We have to let Him have His way.

We often think that we have surrendered, but something that I am learning myself is that if we are constantly obsessing over something, or keep going around and around and around in circles, we haven’t actually surrendered.

So, the whose is getting really clear on whose you are and living that out on a daily basis. You have to understand whose you are and embrace your identity in Jesus before you ever understand your purpose and your calling. Essentially, if you’re listening to this, your calling is most likely your business. You won’t be able to gain clarity on your calling until you fully give it to Him and let Him lead.

All of that say, I am giving away the Queen Identity lesson inside my paid programs for FREE if you post a rating and written review of this podcast over on Apple podcasts. Leave your review, screenshot it, and then email me the screenshot at hannah@hannahbrindley.com. I will be sending this lesson over to you as soon as it’s up and ready!

2. Understand the Why

You must understanding the calling you have and why you must pursue it (only you can do it in the way that you can). Like I mentioned, if you’re listening to this, your calling for this season is probably pursuing your brand or your business. I am sure if you’ve been in the online space or the entrepreneurial space for any time, you’ve heard “Find your why!” and that finding your why is so critical. And the thing is – it is. It is critical. But it’s deeper than you probably think it is. Here’s what I mean.

A lot of the time, people say their why is to build a legacy, or have financial and time freedom, or staying home with their kids. All of that is wonderful, and those are great things to have in this physical life. But it’s physical. None of that is eternal.

Now something I didn’t mention before is that your purpose and your calling are different. Your calling can change depending on the season you’re in. Your calling is the vehicle that helps you fulfill your ultimate purpose. What is your ultimate purpose? Your ultimate purpose as a believer is to know Jesus and to make Him known. It’s to serve Him and love Him above all else, and to guide others to that as well.

So if you’re being called by God to have a business, I’m going to go ahead and go out on a limb here and say that your business is a vehicle to help you fulfill that ultimate purpose. So, really, you have to get very clear on your why. Your calling. Your mission.

We get burnt out when we keep putting our eyes on the physical why’s.

I’m going to tell you right now, because I believe in being fully transparent: if your why is connected to something in this physical world, it’s not worth it. I really hope this doesn’t rub anyone the wrong way. I’m really not meaning it to. But as soon as we connect our why to something in this physical world, we’re putting our identity in it and it becomes our idol. So, as believers, our WHY has to be rooted in Jesus and the ultimate purpose He has us here. If it’s not, we will crumble.

Truth be told, I had a conversation with a client just the other day, and she asked me if being an entrepreneur was worth it? And you know what I told her? I told her it wasn’t. In my opinion and my experiences, being an entrepreneur is NOT worth it if you’re thinking in terms of financial or time freedom. But what is worth it is the mission. The mission is worth it, and I know that I know that I know the Lord called me to this specific mission, to this specific calling. That is the only reason I keep going. Because being an entrepreneur is hard.

Why is this important for clarifying your ideal client? Because girlfriend, those people need you. Because the people that the Lord has called you to serve need you. And no one else can deliver what they need like you can. Because if you’re fulfilling the calling God gave you, interactions you have with your ideal client are ultimately fulfilling His purpose. So, whenever you want to give up, you have to go back to the mission. There have been plenty of times where things got really and I wanted to give up. But who am I to say no to the mission God gave me?

Now that you understand the whose and the why, it’s important to…

3. Understand the Who

I know you’ve probably been waiting on this, but we had to cover the first two first. The who is essentially who you are serving, aka your Dream Queen, or ideal client.

Let’s say for example that you are a business coach. Let’s clarify. A business coach for whom? For women. Let’s get a little more specific. A business coach for what kind of women? For faith-fueled women.

Let’s look at another example: a life coach. A life coach for who? For women. For what kind of women? For single women.

I know it’s easy to get stuck on this for many reasons. The big one is because you want to help your client with so many things. Here’s the thing: you can still help them in different areas. I truly believe taking a holistic approach to problems these days is so much better than simply isolating the problem because there could be a lot of things going on. For example, yes, I’m a business coach, but I’m also a certified life coach, and put a huge focus on growing in your faith and taking a biblical approach. Most of my clients, if not all of them, will tell you that working with me isn’t simply just business coaching. Yes, I help them start and scale their business, but it’s truly a transformation in multiple areas besides just business. However, the importance of getting very clear on who you serve is because the what you help them with (which we’re discussing next) is critical in terms of marketing.

Your dream queen, or your ideal client, needs to know right off the bat that your content and your offer is for them. If you are too broad in your messaging or marketing right off the bat, they’re not going to think that what you have to offer is for them. You must identify who it is specifically you are serving.

4. Understand the What

What does your ideal client want? What are they looking for?

Let’s go back to our examples. If you are a life coach for single women, what is the problem you solve? Maybe you are a life coach for single women who want to heal from a breakup and prepare for a godly marriage. If you are a business coach for faith-fueled women, what is the problem you solve? Maybe you are a business coach for faith-fueled women who want to start and scale a coaching business.

What are your ideal client’s specific pains, fears, and desires? The pains, fears, and desires are critical to the efficiency of your marketing. This is why the content strategy I have inside of my program, Faith-Fueled Coach Academy, is based on pains, fears, and desires. It’s the first step to having a successful content strategy because it works.

Here’s the thing: your dream queen is searching for something very specific. She is looking for a solution to a very specific problem. So, my question to you is…what is the problem? What is she actively searching for? I would bet if you’re listening to this right now, you’ve been on the lookout and searching for ways to attract your clients to you online. Right? So, what is the problem you solve for them?

5. Understand the How

How do you help them with this? This is also known as your offer. It’s your process. It’s how you take your client from point A, which is where they currently are, to point B, which is where they want to be.

Here’s where it gets good and where I feel like perhaps people put chains on themselves. There are other supplemental things that your Dream Queen needs and wants to see from you that will help with their problem. They are desiring a true transformation and a transformation doesn’t always come from one specific thing.

Here’s what I mean: My ideal client wants to grow a faith-fueled coaching business, ok? She needs the strategies that I have in place inside of FCA in order to gain clarity, build a sustainable and scalable offer, create content that converts, has simple daily marketing strategies and techniques that have proven to work time and time again, learn how to sell from a place of grace and alignment, and master the systems for her business and herself to stay productive. But she also has the desire to do it peacefully and surrender herself and herself over to God. She doesn’t want to burnout anymore, and she doesn’t want to obsess over her success anymore. She also may really desire to have a peaceful and intentional morning with matcha and journaling and praying.

That being said, I can share my daily queen routine, which is essentially how I stay rooted in Christ on a day to day basis. Or I can share about my morning matcha making experience on my stories, and how it actually helps me center myself for my work day. I can share about my health and wellness journey, because if I don’t take care of my body, I won’t have the energy to run my business. I can talk about my faith because I know that my business is nothing without Him. If I want to, I can talk about fashion or skincare or beauty because when you “dress for success,” you ultimately feel better, and it’s been scientifically proven that when we actually get ourselves ready for the day we are more productive

I can talk about productivity, habits, systems, and routines, because I know my dream queen probably really struggles, or thinks she struggles, with time management. I can share the fiction books I’m reading because reading is a really great way to mentally rest. It actually helps your creativity. I’m a firm believer in RESTING, and I know my dream queen needs rest.

So while I’m solving one specific problem for my dream queen, I still get to talk about other things I’m passionate about. I just relate those things back to my mission. Just remember that in order to have a business, you do need to make sales. This means it is very important and necessary to talk about your offer. That doesn’t mean you have to let other things go.

As you can see, understanding your dream queen, and ultimately your niche, is so important. If you don’t know who your dream queen is, it can be very confusing to your community because it’s not directly helping them solve a specific problem. This can be messy, and ultimately you won’t be able to attract clients to you online.

But if you know who your Dream Queen is, if you know the problem you solve, you can talk about all your passions and just relate it back to the main problem that you are solving. I’m very confident that no matter what you’re passionate about, you can probably– I’m 90% sure here– you can somehow relate this back to helping your ideal client with their problem. This is ultimately how you can make your multitude of passions about them.
