Stuck In Your Business? The 3 C’s Will Get You Unstuck Today

Business

July 12, 2022

Are you feeling STUCK in your business? Feeling like you’re in a creative rut, or mind funk? Maybe you’re feeling uninspired and not motivated? Or perhaps you’re feeling a ton of resistance towards working on your business (aka your God-given calling)?

If any of this sounds like you, you’re going to want to tune in to this episode because I’m walking you through the 3 C’s that will help you get unstuck… TODAY.

Are you ready?

Let’s dive in.

If you are feeling stuck in your business, have a lack of clarity, are in a creative rut right now, or if you are having a really hard time getting motivated, this episode is for you.

If you are going through something like this right now, I want you to know that you are not alone. I have gone through this time and time again, and because of that, the Lord has revealed some things that have helped get myself back on track and get out of the stuckness.

I’m going to be walking you through the three C’s that will help you get unstuck today.

But before I do, it’s important to mention that there was about a 3-6 month chunk in my entrepreneurial journey where I just felt so overwhelmingly stuck. I felt so much resistance, and I so much imposter syndrome.

I felt as though I just wasn’t supposed to pursue my business. However, while my thoughts were telling me to not pursue it, I knew that wasn’t true. My spirit knew that I was supposed to be pursuing this business, because God had called me to it.

I felt like I was at war with myself. In one way, God was calling me to do something, but I didn’t understand what I was supposed to do. I felt stuck. I didn’t feel creative anymore. I didn’t even know what to talk about anymore. I found myself spiraling so quickly.

I want you to know that if you are in that position right now, I understand, I hear you, I see you and I love you. This is exactly why I’m sharing the 3 C’s that will help you get out of this mind funk. These are things that the Lord has revealed to me over time that have helped me get out of that awful mind funk. In addition, He is revealing to me that I can do this at any point in time. And so can you.

1) Consumption

You might be asking, “What do you mean by consumption?”

You have probably heard the phrase, “Create 10 times more than you consume.”

However, I want to challenge this particular phrase today because while yes, I do agree with this statement, the Lord is revealing to me that we actually need to be consuming 10 times more of the Scripture rather than other people’s content. When we consume Him and His Word, He is going to overflow out of us. We are going to be creating exponentially more high-value content because the Lord will be right in the middle of it.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What kind of content are you consuming the most?
  • Are you consuming the world’s content or are you consuming the Lord’s content?

Living in today’s society and running our businesses here in 2022, it would be virtually impossible to never consume the world’s content. However, the question is, “Which one are you consuming the most of?”

When I’m being totally honest with myself, most of the time I’m consuming more of the world’s content than Scripture and I know that has to change. The truth is that I know that if I am feeling uninspired, stuck, sad, if something just feels off or wrong, or if I’m feeling a lack of clarity, it’s usually because I’m more focused on the world’s content than on the Lord’s content.

I would bet that if you are stuck in a rut in your business, you’re probably stuck because you’re consuming more of others’ worldly content, as opposed to the Lord’s.

So, how do you change this?

It’s important to be honest with yourself here. Are you consuming more of the world’s content than the Lord’s content? If you realize that you are, it’s going to be important to address what you’re consuming and then address how much of it you’re consuming.

Are you spending the first 20 minutes that you wake up scrolling on Instagram in your bed, or maybe the last 45 minutes before you fall asleep? Be honest with yourself. What are you consuming, and how much of it are you consuming? When you become aware of it, you can then start replacing it.

You can start replacing the world’s content with the Lord’s content and I know you will be blown away by what happens.

2) Comparison

We all know comparison is the thief of all joy.

In the past, I used to compare myself to plenty of other people in my industry and my mind went crazy because of it. I started thinking I wasn’t good enough, because I didn’t have a podcast at the time, or a YouTube channel. I didn’t have a website. I didn’t have a course. I didn’t do as well on video as others’ did. I just felt like an imposter. Because of that, I would begin to think that no one would want to work with me because they would rather work with “Sally” over here, who has it all put together.

If you’ve ever dealt with comparison, I know you’ve probably dealt with these kinds of thoughts too. You’ve probably gotten nervous when you see someone else in your niche or your industry doing something very similar to what you are. When I say nervous, I mean that you might start getting nervous that you’re not going to secure as many clients because of “Sally” over here, because she’s doing “better” than you. But let’s just call that what it is–a total lie.

We are all meant to serve very specific people in the Kingdom of God. So, here’s the truth. When it comes to comparison, it is the thief of all joy and it will grab hold of you and pull you into that spiral before you even know what’s happening.

There have been times in my career where I was completely in my head because I was comparing myself to someone. But I didn’t even realize I was in a mind-funk until I was already in it deeply. Then, I didn’t even know why I was in a mind-funk.

But the reason I was in the mind-funk is because I was spending all this time comparing myself to “Sally” on the other side of the screen.

This goes back to “C” number one, which is consumption. Stop consuming so much of other peoples’ content and focus on Jesus. Yes, I know it is virtually impossible to never consume the world’s content. Especially because sometimes the world’s content is Holy Spirit inspired and we need to hear it. Sometimes we do need to consume the world’s content, but we just have to make sure we are consuming 10 times more of the Scripture than other people’s content. Even when you are tuning into someone who is Holy Spirit inspired, it can be a little difficult sometimes to keep your mind from racing straight into comparison.

How do we fix this? How do we stop this comparison trap once and for all?

There are two things.

  1. Consume His Word. Consume His word 10 times more than the world’s content.
  2. Catch your thoughts (aka capture your thoughts), and then reframe them.

Here’s an example of catching your thoughts. If you see “Sally” over here doing something similar to what you are doing, and then you start getting in your head thinking that your clients might want to go to her instead, stop that. You’ve got to catch those thoughts and reframe them because if you truly believe the Lord has put this mission on your heart, you have to trust Him. But in addition to that, if you are truly wanting to commit to His mission over your life, it’s so important to be excited and thrilled that there are other people He has called to a similar mission (or even the same mission as you).

When you view others as competition, you’re making it about a paycheck… not the mission. But when you view them as people on the same God-given mission you are on, that changes everything. Not only does it get rid of the comparison trap, but it pushes the mission forward even more. Because if you are truly about the mission, you would want more people to be on the same mission as you are, because that helps push the mission forward.

If that is what you were focusing on, that’s going to make you excited and that’s going to make you happy. But if you are focusing on the paycheck, you’re gonna start comparing yourself to someone else.

Friend, take your eyes off the paycheck and put your eyes on Jesus and the mission He called you to.

3) Christ-Centered

What does it mean to put Christ at the center, especially at the center of your business?

Over the last couple of years, the Lord has revealed to me that it’s really important to reposition your business as the vehicle that is going to help you fulfill the mission that the Lord has given you.

And in turn, not necessarily focusing on the paycheck, because when you make it about the paycheck, you are going to fall into secular patterns. And yes, we absolutely need sales and revenue for our businesses to run. However, have you ever thought that maybe the reason you’re not bringing in revenue is because you’re so focused on it?

You’re so focused on your revenue (or your lack of revenue), or even other people’s revenue, and wishing that you have that and then unknowingly placing that above Jesus. The truth is that focusing on the paycheck more than the mission leads you down the path of comparison, discontentment, resentfulness, and burnout.

I believe burnout happens because we’re focused on the paycheck and on worldly desires over Jesus. When you make it about Jesus and about the mission He has instilled in your heart, you will be so on fire that nothing will bring you down. Nothing will be able to grab hold of you and pull you into that quicksand, because you are looking at Jesus and He is the ultimate protector.

He is the ultimate provider. He is everything.

How do you make sure you are keeping Christ at this center? It goes back again to being honest with yourself.

Are you putting the paycheck over the mission? Ask yourself that question. Get really honest.

Sit down. Pray and journal about it. Sometimes it can be really easy for us to fall back into those secular patterns and those secular thoughts. So, take the time to pray, to journal and repent.

Those are the three C’s that I know will help you get unstuck today. And as a recap, those three C’s are consumption, comparison and Christ-centered.
