Do you feel like you’re going through a waiting season? If you are, I totally get it. I know all too well how frustrating it is to be putting in the work with just little to no reward. And in addition to that, I know all about the sleepless nights that you’ve had, where you have cried out to God and just begged him to step in and give you what you’ve been asking for, or even just begging Him for a sign.

I get it, and I know the stuck feeling you’re experiencing, the amount of time you’ve spent thinking and brainstorming how to get out of the quicksand you feel like you’re sinking into. Because the more you fight it, the quicker you sink.

I know about the emotional rollercoaster you’ve been on with your business. Where one minute you believe with your whole heart that this is your calling, but then the next, you’re bawling your eyes out and convinced it’s time to throw a towel. And I know you’ve been tired of just being stuck in your waiting season. I know it just feels like it’s just taking entirely too long.

I know that perhaps you may have been waiting years.

I know all this because this was me, and I know the stuck feeling you are experiencing because I’ve experienced it myself. I know it can feel like you’re in this constant season of waiting with no finish line in sight. I have felt that wholeheartedly in my business, but also in my personal life.

But now that my business is finally harvesting after the years I spent tilling the soil, there are three biblical truths that I wish I understood about the waiting season so much sooner, and that’s exactly what we are going to be covering in today’s episode.

I pray that you read this with an open heart and open mind, and open palms, because this may be exactly what you need.

Like I said, I can’t even tell you the number of times I have wanted to just throw in the towel and quit. But something in me was just telling me to keep going and trust the process. Now, obviously, that was the Holy Spirit working in me. Thank you, Jesus. But I say this because I just want you to understand that you’re not alone, and most if not all business owners go through seasons like this.

You can’t build a 6, 7 or 8-figure business by skipping over the hard seasons. That’s not how this works. If you want to build a thriving faith-fueled business, you don’t get to skip the hard, and that means that there will be waiting seasons. That means that there might be seasons when you are sewing and tilling the soil, but you haven’t seen fruit.

That is biblical. My friends, seasons are biblical. Don’t forget that. 

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 says…

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant, any time to pluck.” 

But that being said, I know it can be painful to go through seasons of waiting when the harvest isn’t in sight.

I know I definitely went through that, that’s for sure.

But there are three biblical truths that I learned during my waiting season that I wish I knew and fully understood as I was going through it. 

Biblical Truth #1 – God is preparing you for something so much bigger than you ever thought possible.

Ephesians 3:20 says…

“Now to him, who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to his power that is at work within us.”

He is going to do abundantly more than we could ever ask.

Now, I know this sounds cliché, but it’s only cliché because it’s true LOL.

In addition, I feel like this is something we can know on the logical level and we can hear it, but not really fully understand it and accept it on a heart level. 

As I already mentioned, I diligently worked during my sowing season for years without reaping a huge reward. It was incredibly discouraging and there were many times I almost quit.

I literally cannot tell you the number of times I bawled my eyes out and had mental breakdowns. And at the time when all that was happening, I really just wanted to have a “successful business” and create a 6-figure business online.

That is what I wanted. Yes, I wanted to impact people, but I really just craved to have a business. I wanted to make money. I craved financial freedom in the way that Instagram is known for flaunting, and I know you know what I’m talking about when I say that, but God had much greater plans for me than this.

Yes, I have a business, but it’s about so much more than merely making money. Don’t get me wrong–money is important and God knows we need money. He knows this, but this waiting season taught me that this business is so much more than just a business. And He’s still working on that. There’s so much in store here for the future, and I’m so thrilled for that.

But this waiting season taught me that yes, the money is coming and he brings the money when we are faithfully obedient. There’s so much more coming to this brand in the future, but what I had to learn during this waiting season was that I was misplacing my focus. My focus was on making money and building a business when God was trying to show me to focus on Him, to take obedient action and He would bring the business if that was His will.

My focus had to shift from money to Jesus. And listen, I really just want to put out there, I wasn’t just like, “Hey, God, I’m just not going to do the work.”

No, I knew I needed to be faithfully obedient, but I also needed to make sure I was looking at him so He could direct my steps. 

Does that mean I didn’t invest?

No, I absolutely invested and He led me to invest. 

Being faithfully obedient looks like looking at Him, letting Him guide your steps, and then taking the step that He is telling you to take.

It does not look like NOT taking the step that He is telling you to take.

Yes, we must surrender it and we must give everything to God. But if He’s telling you to take a step, you take the step and surrender the results to Him. 

But I say all this to say that my focus had to shift from money to Jesus. 

When we put our focus on Jesus, we receive more than we could ever imagine, simply because Jesus is more than we could ever imagine.

Biblical Truth #2 – God is calling you closer to Him 

James 4:8 says… 

“Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.”

The truth is, success in God’s eyes is so different from how we view success.

It’s not about money or fame or power.

It’s about being all in with Jesus. It’s about being made new in Christ, and it’s about bringing others to Him.

That is success in God’s eyes. And yes, as I said, He cares about our money, because He cares about every part of us. And money is a part of that. 

But I say this to say that it is very possible that he is using this season to train you to always look at HIM.

Rely on Him and go all in with Him. 

What would it actually look like if you went all in with Jesus? What does that look like?

The other day I got to thinking about what it would look like for us in this physical world if we were to marry Jesus. Because as believers, we are the bride of Christ.

What does that actually look like if we own that and live that out? 

That can be your journal prompt today. W

What would it look like for you to actually marry Jesus? How would you live your life? Would anything change? What about your habits, your routines? 

When you are married to someone, you think about them often, if not, all the time.

And if you’re not sure what it would be like for you to marry Jesus, ask yourself what it would be like to date Jesus. What would that be like? 

When you date someone new, you are constantly thinking about them. You are putting them first, you are spending time with them, and you are talking to them all the time.

How would “dating Jesus” change your relationship with Him?

When I was journaling through this myself, I realized that things would definitely change because we can always draw even closer to Him. If you’re desperately waiting, lean into Christ. 

But don’t lean in to receive financial blessings, or for your business to explode.

Lean into him with a pure heart. 

Lean in because you know that even if you never have “success” in business, He is all you need. Lean in because He is all you want. 

And now I’m sure you may be asking, “Why would I even continue a business if I’m not financially successful?” 

The answer is honestly very simple.

It’s because He asked you. It’s because He called you to it. Because He told you to walk in obedience and take faithful action. 

You have no idea the ripple effect you may be creating. 

You have no idea that you may actually be planting a seed for someone to come to Christ. 

You have no idea what is happening in the spiritual realm just by you taking obedient action.

Biblical Truth #3 – Your business could be a catalyst for Your sanctification

If you’re not familiar with sanctification, sanctification is literally the action or the declaration of making something holy. 

So, your business could be the catalyst to your sanctification, aka the process of making you holy.

How incredible is that? 

Romans 8:28 says…

“All things work together for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” 

Trials and difficulties bring you closer to Christ if you allow it. 

Waiting seasons bring you closer to Christ if you allow it.

You have to be cleansed and stripped of everything that isn’t glorifying God, and that can often not feel very great. 

Trials, obstacles, challenges, and waiting seasons can very much be the catalyst for our sanctification because they can strip us of what no longer is going to serve us and glorify Christ.

And because of that, it is so important to be grateful for the season you’re in, even when it’s hard.
